I have to admit, the ringtone upgrade certainly played into my decision to junk my old Sprint phone and get a PCS Vision-enabled unit. ![]() AT&T's mMobile ads do the same, and Motorola's "moto" ads practically make you feel like a total square unless you jetset to Tokyo with a tubetop-wearing girlfriend that only answers her phone when it rings Moby. Sprint's current round of commercials make sure to clue consumers into the ringtone features of their PCS Vision-enabled phones. Who wants an old Nokia that plays "Jingle Bells" when you can swing with a phone that bumps Nelly when one of your shorties is looking for the hook-up? After all, cellphone marketers have successfully positioned these new devices as the latest status symbols. The latest round of cellphones, those equipped with color screens and sound chips that can pump out more than Kraftwerk melodies, are starting to gain a solid foothold in the marketplace.
